Members of the Barre Association pay annual dues of $20,
which helps to fund the programs and activities of the
organization throughout the year.

Members are invited to all monthly meetings of the
organization and elect the officers.

Barre Association Activities

Canton Ballet Garment Sales

Held in the fall with delivery for the holidays, the garment sale is a perfect way for students, parents and friends to show their pride in their ballet school with the Canton Ballet logo on some really great gear and apparel. Sales are open to the public. Items are on display in the studios of Canton Ballet, located in the Cultural Center for the Arts. Call the Ballet at 330.455.7220 for sale dates and hours.

Boutique

A special Barre Boutique Shoppe is available at every performance and at specific times during the year at the studio. Members of the Barre are asked to help make magic wands and halos and to help as sales staff. Call the Ballet at 330.455.7220 for dates when the Boutique will be open at the Studio.

Flower Sales

Dancers love to receive flowers at their performances! The Barre is able to get special pricing on beautiful bouquets. You may order in advance and pick up your flowers the day of the performance.

Video Sales

A video is a wonderful way to follow your dancer’s progress and to remember each performance. The Barre makes certain all performances are videotaped. Pre-orders are taken in advance of the performance.

Breakfast with the Nutcracker

In December 2008, the Barre Association will host a specialBreakfast with the Nutcracker. Guests will gather to enjoy light delicacies, visit and have their pictures taken with the Nutcracker characters, bid on beautiful raffle baskets, have fun, and then adjourn to the Canton Palace Theatre to see Canton Ballet’s full-length performance of Nutcracker. Summer Study Scholarships

The Barre is pleased to assist company level dancers with a number of scholarships for their summer intensive study. A special scholarship audition class is held in the winter or early spring to select the recipients of the scholarship.

Performance Meals and Snacks

During theatre week for all productions, the Barre Association provides healthy snacks, water and juice for the dancers. Between matinee and evening performances, the Barre provides a meal for the dancers, crew and staff who must remain at the Canton Palace Theatre.

Senior Tea / Senior Scrapbooks

Throughout the year, the Barre gathers mementos such as program books, ticket stubs, photos, etc, which are compiled into a scrapbook and presented to all graduating seniors at a special Senior Tea in May.

Educational Programs

The Barre Association hosts special speakers and programs on topics of interest specific to dancers and their families as well as general parenting or health issues.
